Brushing for Your Child and the New Permanent Teeth Are Still Yellow?

There is a reason!
The enamel (the hard outer surface layer of the tooth) is more translucent in permanent teeth. The dentin is the next layer of the tooth and the color of the dentin is more yellow.  Because the enamel is more translucent, that dentin shows through, making the teeth appear more yellow.

Baby teeth are often referred to as “milk teeth” due to their bright white shade and increased opacity.  When your child begins losing teeth and has a mixed dentition of both baby teeth and permanent teeth, the contrast of both shades of teeth can often look extreme. Don’t fret! Once a child has lost all of their baby teeth, the shade looks natural and more uniform.
